Mexico rattled fans early in the game almost scoring in the first few minutes, but they kept missing because it was too high or offside.
After a scoreless first half, fans thought Mexico still had a chance of scoring and winning the game.
Alumni Michael Lucero said, "they should have the upper advantage but it's not going as well, they should be able to do a lot better." He predicted the score would be 1-0 Mexico. Lucero also bet $40 this past weekend in Las Vegas. He believes Mexico can win the world cup and the odds are good he said.
Art major Joanna Garcia, said " it's pretty exciting Mexico almost scored four goals but then France was getting all up in their business and blocked their goals, but it was all good," about Mexico coming out hard during the first half but failing to score.
Math Professor, Moises Gutierrez said "I think France is going to take it, but I want Mexico to win," when asked who was going to win the match. Gutierrez has been coming to the Nugget to watch games after his class ends. He also predicted Germany or Argentina as the winner of the World Cup.
Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez entered the match in the 55th minute and just nine minutes later he tricked the goalie and tapped the ball into the wide open goal.

After the game, Recreation major, Alfonso Reyes gave his thoughts, "it was great, in the first half I thought the officials were giving the advantage to France, they were making a lot of calls in favor of France." Reyes didn't think France had a chance of winning, "It was a long shot for them to beat Mexico today just because of the way Mexico plays," he said.
